CompTIA launch new A+ exams The Computing Technology Industry Association has announced new exams which will be available to sit from December 2006 onwards. The current exams, 220-301 and 220-302 will still be available to sit until March 31st 2007. The State of IT in 2006 Recruitment specialist CW Jobs stated that jobs for IT contractors have soared from 140,000 to 230,000. The demand is still led by Retail and Finance in the South East. Contractor UK Market Report: The hourly average for the ten most commonly requested contractor skills in March was £30.93. One report this month from Imis highlights the growing IT skills gap and lack of willingness by firms to train their IT staff. The Olympic, ID cards and NHS IT modernisation were all highlighted as vast extra drains on the IT skills pool.
