January is traditionally the time of year when people consider their jobs and careers. If you have been considering making a fresh start for the New Year, there has never been a better time to get into IT.
To help you make some decisions about your IT career we thought we would give you some quick career tips.
First of all, think about the type of job you want in IT. What suits you? What do you like to do? What sort of environment would you like to work in?
Different jobs in IT obviously need different skills. Some jobs are only available in certain locations and hey… you may have to wear a suit – or are you a t-shirt and jeans person!
It seems silly, but it is worth thinking about before you begin your studies. After all, you may be looking to do this for the rest of your life!
It is important to understand that there are hundreds of different job titles and each course subject can lead you down very different career paths.
For help about job descriptions, job functions and skill categories and alternate job titles click here.
Here you’ll also be able to do some self assessments to help you if you are a newcomer, or indeed already in IT. You will be able to match your interests and aptitudes to IT jobs which should assist you in deciding which careers may be more suitable for you.
Once you have an idea about which job you like the look of, look at Jobserve, Monster and Totaljobs to find out what jobs are available in your area – and how much you can earn!
By checking out these links and doing a bit of research you will gain a better idea about what it is you really want to do in IT - and you’ll be better armed when you talk to us at ITlearneasy.
I'm sure you see already that there are a great deal more vacancies in IT than in any other job sector. There ARE plenty of IT jobs out there, but not enough QUALIFIED people to fill them.
If you need impartial advice about courses, careers or even just to find out if a career in IT is right for you, please email us with any question you may have. Remember to include your contact details. We can help by email or telephone, whichever suits you best.
Either way, we will be happy to give you free advice and help in any way that we can BEFORE you commit to a course. That way, you’ll know whether we are right for you and whether you are choosing the right course and right career path – before you invest in your training.
Remember too that we don't visit your home or ask you to travel to our Centre. You can prepare any questions you have in advance and then decide at your leisure when or if you wish to start training with ITlearneasy.
Regards from everyone at ITlearneasy.
